iToBoS project appears in an article of Diari de Girona, a national newspaper. The article, titled ”Artificial intelligence against melanoma” is written in Catalan.
Thus, with the ultimate goal of detecting skin cancers "early and in a personalized way", iiToBoS "will develop an artificial intelligence system to provide assistance to dermatologists integrating all this information," says Garcia on a development with intelligence artificial intelligence that "will use the most modern deep learning techniques to assess the risk of each of the lesions we detect in these patients." Rafael García recalls that, “traditionally”, one way to detect skin cancer has been to recommend to potential patients to watch if any of their freckles “changed” and that now, with IiToBoS, “our scanner will also periodically evaluate , every six months or nine months, will automatically monitor each of the 600 patients in the clinical study to provide the dermatologist with information about each blemish or lesion.
Així, amb l’objectiu final de detectar càncers de pell «de manera precoç i personalitzada», IiToBoS «desenvoluparà un sistema d’intel·ligència artificial per donar assistència als dermatòlegs integrant tota aquesta informació», apunta García sobre un desenvolupament amb intel·ligència artificial que «utilitzarà les tècniques més modernes d’aprenentatge profund per avaluar el risc de cadascuna de les lesions que detectarem en aquests pacients». Rafael García recorda que, «tradicionalment», una manera de detectar el càncer de pell ha estat recomanar als possibles pacients que vigilin si alguna de les seves pigues «canviava» i que ara, amb IiToBoS, «el nostre escàner també avaluarà de forma periòdica, cada sis mesos o nou mesos, monitorarà a cadascun dels 600 pacients de l’estudi clínic de manera automàtica per proporcionar al dermatòleg informació sobre cada piga o lesió».
