Prof. Rafael Garcia (University of Girona), coordinator of iToBoS project, attended the annual Conference of the European Association of Melanoma Patients (MPNE 2023).
MPNE2023 took place on April 28-30, 2023, at the Bloom hotel in Brussels, Belgium. MPNE 2023 Conference focused on the latest developments in various aspects of Melanoma- treatments but also research and policy, as well as what MPNE is doing about it.
Prof. Garcia gave a conference to provide an overview and disseminate the iToBoS project. The objective of this project is the development of new tools for the early detection of cutaneous melanoma, and the attendees were able to feel first-hand the significant advances that the project is making both in the development of new deep learning models for prediction of melanoma, as in new modalities of non-contact dermoscopy image acquisition, using liquid lenses and polarized light.
Additionally, the Project Coordinator participated in the networking activities programmed in the event and stablished several conversations with possible stakeholders for the project.
Melanoma Patient Network Europe (MPNE) is an association which includes melanoma patients and carers, as well as patient advocates. MPNE has built a network that allows to overcome language barriers and share knowledge about Melanoma reliably throughout Europe, while participating in different European projects. MPNE is one of the partners of the iToBoS project, providing patient involvement, organizing focus groups and helping the patients' voice to be present in the research we carry out.
